In this area near Galway where the spectacular cliffs of Moher are located , I was captivated by the charm of towns such as Clifden or Westport .
Now in the recent trip to the southern part of this tourist route, in the County of Cork , we have visited other beautiful villages to which the succession of colorful houses gives them a special charm.
In this regard, the most prominent is Kinsale , a coastal town that you find just 25 kilometers from Cork .
This city is the second most populated in Ireland, which you arrive in summer on direct flights from Spain, and now also with a new ferry line from Santander.
Kinsale is one of the most picturesque villages on the southern coast of Ireland, which in medieval times was a small fishing village.
Starting from Kinsale in a westerly direction, the region known as West Cork extends , where on our trip we visited interesting places such as Bantry or the natural landscapes of the Sheep’s Head peninsula .
And also this place is the beginning or end in this area of the aforementioned Atlantic Coastal Route , Wild Atlantic Way , tourist route that runs along the Atlantic coast to the north of Ireland.
What to see in Kinsale
When you arrive in Kinsale you will find a small town located on the edge of a bay where a port of leisure boats is located.
Next to the sea you have a large car park where you can leave the car and where there is a big house that houses the tourist office.
From there your visit will focus on walking through the main square of the town and through the adjacent narrow streets, where you will discover beautiful corners with houses whose facades are decorated with striking colors.
If you are fond of photography I tell you that you are going to enjoy a lot framing the most beautiful facades.
On your walk you will also see shops with beautiful shop windows, cute cafés and tea houses, and also an art gallery.
In the case of our visit we coincided with a rally of classic cars, which gave much more color and splendor to it, with the charming contrast between the colors of the houses and those of the historic cars.
I mention that in this area around Cork you can also visit other towns that stand out for their houses with colorful facades.
Cobh and Eyeries
Undoubtedly the most prominent corner is Cobh , in particular for the charming image of its beautiful fishing port, with a row of buildings in front of it with striking colorful houses.
Above them stands the Neo-Gothic building of the late nineteenth century known as Cobh Cathedral . configuring one of the most beautiful scenes of this region of southern Ireland.
And if you like this kind of town and you’re traveling west on the aforementioned Atlantic route, you have a date with Eyeries ,
It is a small corner of the Beara peninsula in the West Cork region , 130 kilometers from the city of Cork, where tourists are going to photograph their houses.
There you will find a long street that crosses the town where all its buildings are decorated with facades with the most strident colors, and atmosphere that is maintained in the facades of its shops and bars.
