For too long I had to travel to see the famous Christmas markets in Germany , and finally last year I had the opportunity to visit some of them.
Indeed, on the trip I then made in Bavaria , a region of southern Germany , which had the main objective of visiting the Neuschwanstein castle , I could not miss a walk through the Christmas markets .
It is one of the most popular traditions in Germany , which extends throughout the country from north to south, and which at the Christmas season envelops cities and towns with a very special charm.
But in the state of Bavaria there are also many villages where in the weeks before the arrival of Christmas you can enjoy this tradition.
These markets are installed every year from the end of November until December 24 or 25, although in some cases they last longer.

Kempten Christmas Market
In my aforementioned trip to Bavaria I had the opportunity to visit the Christmas market in Kempten , a small village in the region of ( Allgäu ) and located near the Alps, an hour and a half southwest of Munich .
Considered the largest Christmas market in Bavaria , it is located in the old town.
Specifically in the nerve center of this Bavarian town that is the Rathausplatz , the Town Hall Square.
There you can see a beautiful stone building that houses the consistorial house, which was built in 1474 to replace the old wooden building.
Known as Weihnachtliches , the dates of the Kempten Christmas Market 2018 are from November 29 to December 22, although on December 31 and every Saturday in January the market also has activity.
Its hours are, from Monday to Friday, from 12 to 20 hours, and on Fridays and Saturdays it stays open until 9:00 p.m.
Füssen Christmas Market
Another flea market I have visited on this trip has been Füssen , a very nice village of 15,000 inhabitants, one of the most visited in Bavaria, since you must go there to see the aforementioned castle of the mad king .
On this occasion it is an Advent market that is located in the inner courtyard of one of the most prominent corners of Füssen , the San Mang convent .
There you will find the Christmas booths, with handicraft products and typical sweets, and also where to taste the hot wine .
Nor is there a stage where Christmas music concerts take place, or children’s activities, such as making soap bubbles that children like so much … and the elderly.
That’s right, in this Bavarian city the market only takes place on two weekends before the Christmas celebration.
Specifically, the dates of the Füssen Christmas Market 2018 are from 7 to 9 and from December 14 to 16.
The hours are, on Friday, from 5 pm to 8 pm; Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
